April 26-May 1, 2023
Join WTA on a magical trip to Amsterdam during the largest festival of the year, King’s Day! Amsterdam is the Netherlands’ capital, known for its artistic heritage, elaborate canal system, and home to the Van Gogh Museum. You will enjoy many historic buildings and the most picturesque sites this city has to offer.
If you have ever wanted to experience authentic festivities in Amsterdam, here is your chance! King’s Day (or ‘Koningsdag’ in Dutch) is an orange-filled celebration for the King’s birthday, held every year. Orange is worn as a show of pride for the Dutch royal family – the House of Orange-Nassau. Orange wigs and face paint also get a big thumbs up – the wackier, the better! Yes, you may look crazy, but thankfully so will everyone else! The Dutch also have a knack for tulips – fields full of magnificent flowers will be a sight to see as we visit the famous Keukenhof Gardens and take in the glorious scenery. Do not skip out on this festive, spring journey!
Note: We recommend leaving the US on April 25 so that your flight arrives the morning of April 26 – early enough to participate in Day 1’s activities. Should you wish to arrive on April 25 instead, pre-trip hotel charges will be added to your final bill.

ITINERARY
Day 1 – April 26 – Arrive at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS), and private transportation will take you to your accommodations for the week. After settling into your hotel, your group will get to know each other over a local welcome dinner.
Note: We recommend your flight from the US arrives before 11am on April 26 to allow adequate time to join the day’s activities.
Day 2 – April 27 – Today, you will enjoy the festivities of King’s Day! Make sure to bring your orange to wear to the event and experience a royal birthday celebration in the Dutch capital. On April 27th every year the country comes alive, draped in orange to celebrate King Willem-Alexander’s birthday. With events happening all day across the country, your group will enjoy live music, lots of dancing, flea markets, street food, drinking stalls, and boat parties to celebrate this unique holiday. In the evening, visit the infamous Red Light District and attend an erotic show. We’ll wind our way through the cobblestone streets of Amsterdam’s most iconic neighborhood to experience the atmosphere, red-lit windows, and off-beat culture of Amsterdam.
Day 3 – April 28 – FREE Day. Enjoy shopping throughout the city, or take a scenic bike ride through the countryside. Cycling in Amsterdam is the most authentic way to travel. There are around 515km (320 miles) of dedicated cycle lanes in Amsterdam, thus making the perfect setting to cycle the city, or beyond. The countryside area is famous for its quaint villages, historic towns, farms, nature reserves, and lakes. You will have lots of opportunities to stop and take one-of-a-kind photos of the picturesque sightings.
Day 4 – April 29 – Today, you will take a memorable tour of the Anne Frank House. Discover Amsterdam’s WWII history and follow in the footsteps of Anne Frank as she goes into hiding in the Secret Annex. Jewish Anne Frank hid in 1942 from the Nazis during the occupation of the Netherlands; two years later she was discovered and died in 1945 at the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. The diary of Anne Frank was written while she and her family were in hiding during WWII as they attempted to evade the Nazis. Her famous diary was found and is the most well-known diary of the six million Jews who died in the Holocaust.
Day 5 – April 30 – Your group will spend today at the famous Keukenhof Garden, known as the Garden of Europe. This is one of the world’s largest flower gardens and found to be the most beautiful in spring. Keukenhof Park covers an area of 32 hectares and has approximately 7 million flower bulbs planted in the garden annually. Make sure to have your camera ready to capture all of the vibrant colors and unique displays at the Keukenhof Garden! This evening, your group will celebrate a wonderful week in Amsterdam.
Day 6 – May 1 – A private transfer will take you back to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) for your connecting flight to the US.
