The best markets are those with impressive backdrops – marbled palaces and cathedrals that tower above in shimmering festive lights. The aroma of toasted almonds, warm gluhwein, and sweet baked treats drifts through the crisp almost-winter air. Can you smell it yet?

WTA has thought of everything on this weeklong holiday getaway in Austria. Join WTA to pay tribute to centuries-old traditions and local craftsmanship at three of Vienna’s top Christmas Markets. Venture to the very top of the city on Vienna’s giant Ferris wheel, and discover why they call it the City of Music as you delight in the sounds of Mozart and Strauss. Slow your pace as you travel to nearby Burgenland to relish in endless spa treatments and sample delectable local wines. Experience the WTA difference while joining a local family in charming Apetlon for an authentic holiday celebration and traditional Austrian dinner. Note: We recommend leaving the US on November 24 so that your flight arrives the morning of November 25 – early enough to participate in Day 1’s activities. Should you wish to arrive on November 24 instead, pre-trip hotel charges will be added to your final bill.

ITINERARY

DAY 1 – November 25 – Willkommen in Österreich! Arrive at Vienna International Airport (VIE), and private transportation will bring you to your accommodations in central Vienna. After settling in, join your new travel companions for a welcome dinner at a local restaurant before witnessing the grandeur of the Belvedere Christmas Market.

Note: We recommend your flight from the US arrives before 11am on November 25 to allow adequate time to join the day’s activities.

DAY 2 – November 26 – A bird’s eye view of the city is a great way to get acquainted with Vienna! Join your group this morning for a ride on Vienna’s Ferris wheel before exploring the city’s largest Christmas Market: Christkindlmarkt on the Rathausplatz. Experience true Viennese coffeehouse culture, before attending an evening concert dedicated to the sounds of Vienna’s own Mozart and Strauss.

DAY 3 – November 27 – FREE Day. Enjoy a day of shopping, take a tour of the city, or visit one of Vienna’s world-class museums. Tonight, experience the wonderment of the Stephansplatz Christmas Market in the heart of Vienna. 

DAY 4 – November 28 – Today, trade in city views for rolling countryside landscapes as your group travels to neighboring Burgenland, Austria’s wine region. Settle into your accommodations at St. Martins Therme and enjoy a blissful afternoon exploring their many thermal pools and spa treatments.

DAY 5 – November 29 – Nobody does brunch quite like this! Savor the many flavors of Austrian cuisine at St. Martins breakfast buffet before your group explores the surrounding beauty along the Neusiedler See – Seewinkel National Park. Indulge in the fragrant wines at a nearby winery before visiting a local family for a true Austrian holiday celebration to last the evening!

DAY 6 – November 30 – Treat yourself to a final day of relaxation at St. Martins before your group travels back to Vienna. This evening, toast to a week of discovering a new culture and meeting new friends.

DAY 7 – December 1 – A private transfer will take you back to Vienna International Airport (VIE) for your connecting flight to the US.
