GERMANY (CHRISTMAS MARKETS)
SOLD OUT! WAITLIST ONLY

December 1-8, 2023

Join WTA as we tour Frankfurt, Rothenburg, Munich, and Stuttgart, Germany! Germany is a wonderland of castles, mountains, and ancient cities that will leave you in awe any time of year. But in winter, the picture-perfect landscapes covered in snow suddenly transform into magical sites that come alive! Christmas Markets in Germany are the highlight of this tour because simply put, they are the best in the world!

Weihnachtsmärkte in Germany are unique because they are held according to ancient traditions that make them a festive fun activity. Each market we visit varies according to the local region’s customs and culture. During the markets, you will meet people dressed in traditional clothing, have the opportunity to sample German delicacies, and stroll the alleys cloaked with the melodic sound of Christmas carols. Kickstart your holiday season with a WTA trip of a lifetime!

Note: We recommend leaving the US on November 30 so that your flight arrives the morning of December 1 – early enough to participate in Day 1’s activities. Should you wish to arrive on November 30 instead, pre-trip hotel charges will be added to your final bill.

ITINERARY

DAY 1 December 1 – Welcome to Germany! Arrive at Frankfurt Airport (FRA) airport, and private transportation will take you to your accommodations. After settling into your hotel, you will enjoy a welcome dinner with your new travel companions.

Note: We recommend your flight from the US arrives before 2pm on December 1 to allow adequate time to join the day’s activities.

DAY 2 December 2 – Take it easy this morning as you adjust to the new time zone. After lunch, your group will experience an authentic wine tasting at a family winery, sampling German specialties such as Riesling and Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir). In the evening, you will experience the winter wonderland of Frankfurt’s German Christmas Market. This market is one of Germany’s most special as its traditions date back to 1393. You will have a magical time taking in all the performances, local festive crafts, and food vendors.

DAY 3 – December 3 – Today, your group will embark on a picturesque train trip to Rothenburg. Germany has one of Europe’s greatest rail networks, and many of the country’s sights are best enjoyed by railway. On this captivating journey, you will cross lush forests, vast open spaces, and snow-dusted quaint villages. After checking into your hotel in Rothenburg, you will have a FREE afternoon in the market before enjoying the Nightwatchman walk.

DAY 4 – December 4 – Say farewell to Rothenburg as your group moves on to the Bavarian capital of Munich by way of train. Munich is home to centuries-old buildings, numerous museums, and some of the largest breweries in Germany. While it is famous the world over for its annual Oktoberfest celebration, it also boasts an incredible holiday scene as well. This evening, experience the Marienplatz Christmas Market situated against the romantic backdrop of the neo-Gothic town hall.

DAY 5 – December 5 – FREE Day. Enjoy a day of shopping, take a tour of the city, or visit one of Munich’s museums. Tonight, explore the city once more with your group as you experience a different kind of market – the Medieval Christmas Market on Wittelsbacher Platz. The vendors wear period costumes and food is roasted over a traditional open fire.

DAY 6 – December 6 – A visit to Bavaria in winter wouldn’t be complete without witnessing one of the most beautiful castles in the world – Neuschwanstein Castle. This castle is a 19th-century historicist palace on a rugged hill above the village of Hohenschwangau. With its white limestone façade and deep blue turrets, it is rumored to be the real-life inspiration for the Disney Cinderella Castle.

DAY 7 – December 7 – Today, your group will say goodbye to Munich and travel to your last destination on this wonderful winter journey – Stuttgart. Once settled in at your hotel for the evening, enjoy a FREE afternoon to find your last souvenirs before enjoying a farewell dinner with your new group of friends. Relish in the winter merriment as you experience one final Christmas Market.

DAY 8 – December 8 – An early train will take your group from Stuttgart directly to Frankfurt Airport (FRA) this morning.
