Begin in vibrant Madrid, then journey through the stunning Galician landscape to complete this transformative journey. Daily Itinerary

Day 1 – May 18

Arrive at Madrid’s Adolfo Suárez Airport and transfer to your hotel in the city center. Settle in and rest from your journey, or stroll your neighborhood and get acquainted with the Spanish capital. This evening, gather with your travel companions for a guided “sights & bites” tour where you’ll see some of Madrid’s historic highlights and taste various local tapas.
Overnight: Hotel Catalonia Puerta Del Sol (or Equivalent)
Meals Included: Dinner

Day 2 – May 19

Enjoy a free day to explore Madrid’s greatest treasures—the Royal Palace, Museo Nacional del Prado, historic Plaza Mayor, and beautiful Retiro Park. Gather back with the group this evening to share stories of what you saw today and prepare for your journey north to begin walking the Camino.
Overnight: Hotel Urban (or Equivalent)
Meals Included: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 3 – May 20

Depart Madrid for Palas de Rei in Galicia this morning by train (approximately 5.5 hours). You’ll in the early evening in this charming gateway town. Settle into your accommodations and rest before your start the pilgrimage. You’ll have dinner with the group at a local restaurant.
Overnight: Local Guesthouse (or Equivalent)
Meals Included: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 4 – May 21

Begin your El Camino journey with your first walk through rural Galician countryside, covering approximately 15 kilometers from Palas de Rei to Melide. You’ll pass through small villages and ancient forests, experiencing the quiet beauty that has drawn pilgrims for centuries. Enjoy lunch at a local café, then rest and savor a traditional Galician dinner this evening.
Overnight: Hotel Lux Melide (or Equivalent)
Meals Included: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 5 – May 22

Walk approximately 15 kilometers from Melide to Arzúa through farmland and forests with stunning landscape views. Stop in charming villages for refreshments and rest. This afternoon, soak your feet and relax. Dinner tonight features more of Galicia’s delicious local cuisine.
Overnight: Pensión Luis (or Equivalent)
Meals Included: Breakfast, Dinner

 

Day 6 – May 23

Continue with your third walking day, covering approximately 19 kilometers from Arzúa to O Pedrouzo as you move closer to your destination. The anticipation builds as the final stage approaches. Rest and reflect this afternoon and evening, knowing you’re just one day away from the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela.
Overnight: Pensión Residencial Platas (or Equivalent)
Meals Included: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 7 – May 24

Complete your pilgrimage with the final walk into Santiago de Compostela, approximately 19 kilometers from O Pedrouzo, arriving at the Plaza del Obradoiro. As you stand before the magnificent cathedral, you’ll experience the profound moment that has moved pilgrims for over a thousand years. Spend the afternoon exploring the medieval old town and celebrating with your travel companions. Overnight: Hotel Monumental (or Equivalent)
Meals Included: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 8 – May 25

This entire day is yours to rest and explore Santiago at your own pace. Sleep in, enjoy a leisurely breakfast, and wander the cobblestone streets of the historic city. Visit museums, shop for local crafts, attend services at the cathedral, enjoy traditional meals, or simply reflect on your journey from a quiet plaza. This evening, join your group for a festive farewell dinner celebrating your shared experience.
Overnight: Hotel Monumental (or Equivalent)
Meals Included: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 9 – May 26

After breakfast, take the train back to Madrid with the group and then transfer to Madrid’s Adolfo Suárez Airport (MAD) for your international flight home. Depart with memories of an unforgettable pilgrimage and the bonds built with fellow women travelers.

Please note, flights must depart after 3pm local time to ensure sufficient time to reach Madrid from Santiago de Compostela.

Our trips are open to all adult women. Our average traveler age is 55, but we’ve welcomed travelers as young as 20 and as old as 81. Age shouldn’t be a limiting factor to you exploring the world!

Additional Information

Traveler must make a NONREFUNDABLE deposit payment of $400 at time of registration to secure her spot.

Monthly minimum payment of $400 is required on the first of every month until paid in full to keep your reservations current.

Final payment must be made 90 days before the trip date.

A 50% refund can be requested prior to 6 months before the trip start date found in your invoice.

No refunds for cancellations within 6 months of the trip date found in your invoice.

A $250 penalty will be charged for any outstanding balance after the final payment date found in your invoice.
